Thomas Ross was born in Center county, Pa., Feb. 18, 1830, and died at his his home in Defiance, Ia., Feb. 17, 1896, aged 66 years. In 1855 he was married to Lucinda Wickersham and of this union five children were born. One, a daughter, is dead and the remaining four residents of Iowa. R. L and O. Ross reside here, J. W. Ross at Battle Creek, Ida county and Mrs. A. H. Wilfong at Botna. Mr. Ross has resided in this county since 1878 and during that time had the esteem and good will of all who knew him. He early united with the Christian church and was always active and consistent in church work. Besides these four children he leaves an aged wife to mourn his loss to whom the entire community extend their sympathy. The funeral occurred Wednesday of last week from the Christian church at this place, the services being conducted by Elder Applegate and the remains laid to rest in the Defiance cemetery.
