Survived by: Stepmother, Mary Conklin of Winnebago, MN; siblings, Thomas Conklin (significant other, Lori Rogers) of Phoenix, AZ, Steven Conklin (spouse, Amy) of Zimmerman, MN, Joseph Conklin of Mankato, MN) and sister, Dianna Conklin of Blue Earth, MN; best friend, Merrie Ann Sloth; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends

Education: Attended grade school in Jamestown, ND, before attending schools in De Soto and Westfield, WI, Kasson, MN. and Dubuque, IA. When her father was assigned to a church in Belfield, ND, Virginia completed junior high and all but the last semester of high school. The last semester was spent in Walhalla, ND, where she completed high school and developed many life-long friendships. Next, she attended Jamestown College, Jamestown, ND, and Mayville State Teacher’s College, Mayville, ND, before realizing she wasn’t ready for college. By 1972, she was--and enrolled in Florida Bible College, Miami, FL and graduated from there in 1975. She next enrolled in Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA, and graduated in 1982, certified in Library Science and English.

Religious affiliation: Baptized as a young child at the First Presbyterian Church, LeClaire, IA; member, First United Presbyterian Church, Atlantic, IA where she served as a Bible study leader, deacon, elder and was on the Pastor Nominating Committee.

Employment: Virginia moved to Juneau, AK and worked for the State of Alaska in the statistics department and volunteered with a mission team. After completing college at Buena Vista College in 1982, she spent her initially began teaching on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation, Belcourt, ND, followed by 3 years in Belview, IA. Finally, she moved to Elk Horn, IA where she taught in the Elk Horn-Kimballton school until she retired.

Hobbies/Interests: Volunteered as a researcher with the Elk Horn (IA) Genealogical Committee until limited mobility prevented her continuation.
