Funeral services: Celebration of Life: planned for a later date by her church family in Cameron, MO. An afternoon of celebrating Nancy’s life is being planned following the Grabill Reunion, held at the Irwin Community Center, Irwin, IA, on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023.

Survived by: Special friend, Richard Smith of Cameron, MO; step-daughter, Deborah (spouse, Jay) Duke; grandchildren, Ryan (spouse, Jenifer), and Brandon (spouse, Mariana); great-grandchildren, Madison, Carter, Jaxon, Hudson and Rogan; step-daughter, Susan (spouse, Heath) Nave; grandchildren, Brittany (spouse, Kirby), Kurt, Cory (special friend, Rachael), and Devin; great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Arianna, Brystol, Layla, Silver and Chet; siblings, Keith Grabill, Rex Grabill (spouse, Judy), Alvin Grabill (spouse, Peggy), Helen Jorgensen and Donnie Armentrout, all of Audubon, IA; brother-in-law, Jim Doyel of Mason City, IA; sister-in-law, Shirley Grabill of Audubon, IA; 8 nieces; 14 nephews; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Garland Samuel and Doris Helen (nee Holloway) Grabill; husband, Dean Fulmer; sister, Barbara Doyel; brothers, Samuel Grabill and Larry Grabill; brother-in-law, Martin Jorgensen; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Grabill and Gayle Grabill; nephew, Greg Grabill; a great niece; a great-great nephew

Education: Began her education in a one-room country schoolhouse, Douglas No. 3. When the schools consolidated, she went to Gray elementary and junior high school. She graduated from Audubon (IA) High School, Class of 1966. While in high school, she was on the girls’ basketball team and in G.R.A. (Girls’ Recreational Association). In the summer, Nancy played softball with the young women’s team for Fiscus, IA. She attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA to pursue a degree in education.

Religious affiliation: Attended Bible School at Merrill’s Grove Baptist Church, Fiscus, IA. She also attended the RLDS Church, Harlan, with her parents. Nancy was always active in church and went on to become a pastor, having attended seminary at Graceland College in Lamoni, IA

Marriages: (1) Lyle E. Sherer; Nov. 25, 1970; Dow City, Crawford County, IA (2) Dean William Fulmer; Sep. 25, 1985 at her parents’ home in Audubon, IA.

Employment: When Nancy moved to Harlan, IA she worked in the junior high special education department at the school, and at Mickel’s Restaurant. She also ran a sand-blasting business out of her home and etched beautiful mirrors, glass panes for doors, windows and other items. She was honored to create all the etched windows for the Church of Christ in Audubon, IA. After she and Dean married and moved to Lebanon, MO., Nancy decorated cakes for Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart. When her husband, Dean, required care beyond Nancy’s ability, she moved him to the Veteran’s Home in Cameron, MO. While there, Nancy became the pastor of the Community of Christ Church. This was her last church and she considered it “home.”

Hobbies/Interests: made zig-zag gum wrapper paper chains many feet long, and also homemade valentines and posters with construction paper and words cut from newspapers and magazines.
