Survived by: Children, Les (spouse, Deb) of Defiance, IA, Rebecca (spouse, Doug) Petterson of Fuquay Varina, NC, and Paul (spouse, Shannon) of Schleswig, IA; grandchildren, Amanda, Abbi, Alex, Arynn, Adeline, Wendy (spouse, Ruben), Joanna, Hans, Brittnie (spouse, West), Hanna, and Gracie; great-grandson, Meritt; sisters, Delora Davis of Cameron, MO and Dorothy Poling of Rapid City, SD; other family members and friends

Education: attended country school through grade 8, and then graduated from Soldier High School, Soldier, IA, with the Class of 1953; while in high school, he participated in baseball, basketball, and chorus.

Religious affiliation: Baptized at and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (RLDS) Church, Moorhead, IA; after he married Addie in 1960, he became a member of the First Baptist Church in Harlan, IA.

Military service: Enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1957 and served 2 years in Korea; he then served an additional 4 years of reserve duty.

Marriages: (1) Addie Bell Hervey; Nov. 19, 1960; First Baptist Church, Harlan, Shelby County, IA (2) Marna Weisenborn; 2010; location not provided

Employment: After his active military time was served, he worked for the Iowa Highway Commission, surveying I-29 in Western Iowa. After his marriage to Addie Bell, he was employed by Willian Scott Engineering, Omaha, NE, for 2 years before moving to rural Defiance, IA to begin farming. He retired from farming in 2010 after his marriage to Marna.

Hobbies/Interests: With his first wife, Addie, the family they enjoyed roller skating, water skiing, and snow skiing in Colorado. After his marriage to Marna, they enjoyed traveling, attending their grandkids’ events and attending shows at the Orpheum Theater. He enjoyed sharing a cold watermelon, saltwater taffy, molasses popcorn balls, and homemade ice-cream; also enjoyed Sunday School at First Baptist Church, Coffee Club at Peterson Motors, and supporting the grandkids at the lowa State Fair Outhouse Races.
