Education: Attended rural schools in Shelby County, IA; graduated from the Elk Horn (IA) High School, Class of 1955; she then attended the Standard Beauty School in Des Moines, IA and did her internship at a salon in Harlan, IA before receiving her license.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Red Hats Society; loved to bowl and, over the years, belonged to several bowling leagues; enjoyed decorating her home; mostly, she loved being involved in the activities of her children and grandchildren
