Education: Attended country school and attended and graduated from Avoca (IA) High School, Class of 1951

Religious affiliation: Baptized on July 16, 1934 at English Lutheran Church, Avoca, IA; confirmed on May 16, 1948; was very involved with Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca and in the women’s organization there. She organized and served at many funerals and volunteered at the annual aebelskiver supper.

Employment: After graduating from high school, she was employed by Avoca State Bank, Avoca, IA, until the time of her marriage. She raised her children at home until she and Charlie moved to the farm in 1959, when she became a farmer’s wife, running the household and fixing meals for the field workers. Once the children were in school, Laura Ann worked at Kubik’s Kitchen, Wendl’s Kitchen, and Kern’s Café. In 1978, Laura Ann started working as secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church until Dec. 2005.

Hobbies/Interests: Excellent seamstress and cook; loved attending her children’s activities;
