Survived by: Children, Kerry (spouse, Delores) Kiesel of Atlantic, IA, Brian Kiesel of Omaha, NE, Karla (spouse, Rich) Baird of Avoca, IA, Rick Kiesel of Shelby, IA, and Gale (spouse, Carrie) Kiesel of Avoca, IA; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Louie and Ella (nee Henningsen) Plautz; husband, Carl Adam Kiesel (deceased Feb. 21, 2007); sister, Doylene Robertson; niece, Sharon Rae Campbell

Education: Attended Pleasant Ridge #6 country school in rural Avoca; she graduated from Avoca High School, Class of 1949

Religious affiliation: Baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Avoca, IA; active member of United Lutheran Church, Shelby, IA, since 1953, teaching Sunday School and Bible Classes, and serving as church secretary.

Marriage: Carl Adam Kiesel; May 6, 1951; Trinity Lutheran Church, Avoca, IA

Employment: After graduating from high school, she worked as a telephone operator in Avoca, IA and Harlan, IA, until her marriage. She was a stay-at-home mom until Aug. 1973 at which time she began working at the Shelby Motel; later, she would be employed by L&W Industries, Dairy Queen, and Tillie’s Café, all located in Shelby, IA. In Oct. 1987, Carl and Jeanie assumed management of the Shelby Mini Mart; she retired in Sep. 2006

Hobbies/Interests: Organized the girl scout troop in Shelby, and was also a 4-H leader there; was excellent cook and baker; enjoyed tent camping; listening to 50’s music; participating in play with her children when they were young
