Hobbies/Interests: Enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s school events and activities; was an avid sports fan and rarely missed a football game in Irwin; also followed the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs; enjoyed horse racing and loved a wide variety of musical genres, especially jazz and blues; ran in marathons and also liked to walk, swim and bike. Later, he and Rose Kruse, his longtime companion, traveled together, making many trips to Germany and other European countries.
