Military service: Enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in Oct. 1958. During his 4 years of enlistment, he spent time at Ellsworth AFB, SD, Dhahran AFB, Saudi Arabia, and in Istanbul, Turkey. His last year of service was spent with the Armed Forces Courier Service, carrying Top Secret Material throughout several countries. He was discharged in 1962.

Employment: After his time in the Air Force, Bob he worked for Beebee and Runyan Furniture Company in Omaha, NE for 8 years. He then hauled feed and grain for Shelby Livestock Supply from 1971 to 1992 and hauled grain for Hancock Elevator until he retired in 2007. After retiring from the elevator, he worked hauling grain for farmers during harvest and helped the local Farm Service Coop haul fertilizer. Bob also worked as a farrier for several years, having his own forge and making his own horseshoes.
