Survived by: Wife of 48 years, Bonnie; daughter, Katie Henry and her children, Alex, Caleb and Izak, son, Ben (spouse, Megan) and their daughter, Margot, son, Steve (spouse, Molly) and their children, Courtney (spouse, Joey) Reed, Taylor and Trevor, and son, Kevin; brother, Allen (spouse, Rachael) and their children: Brian (spouse, Brandi), Andrew (spouse, Jamie), Sam and Betsy (spouse, Wes) Sorensen; other family members and friends

Education: Graduated from high school with the Class of 1961; while there, he played many sports but basketball was his favorite; he then attended Peru (NE) State College and acquired his teaching degree

Marriage: Bonnie Mittelstadt; April 15, 1973; Storm Lake, IA

Employment: After receiving his teaching degree, Larry taught social studies and economics for 2 years in Minden, NE, and then in Harlan, IA for 11 years. In June 1978, Larry and Bonnie moved from Harlan to Storm Lake, IA, and went into business with Bonnie’s mother, Kate, at the Sugar Bowl Gift Shop. They became sole owners in 1980 and continued to own and operate the store until Oct. 1, 2002.

Hobbies/Interests: Involved in the Storm Lake, IA community including being a member of Rotary, the Lake Creek Country Club, the Chamber of Commerce and the Industrial Board; was a member of the original Star-Spangled Spectacular committee and served for several years as the coordinator of the food booths. Was a fan the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team and stayed interested in all of the Storm Lake sports teams, including the Tornadoes, Panthers and BVU Beavers.
