Obituary for Jimmy Leroy McClain
October 17, 1943 - July 19, 2021

Jimmy Leroy McClain was born on October 17, 1943, to Harold and Muriel (Whitmore) McClain in Exira, Iowa. Jim graduated from Exira High School. After high school he obtained several certifications, including licenses for Electrical, Waste Management, and Municipal Water. Jim married Donna Walters on May 3, 1964. After their marriage, he was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton.

Jim worked as a city supervisor for the city of Kimballton. After he retired, he served on the city council for several years. Jim was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was dedicated to his community. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball when his children were young. Jim was involved in numerous activities through his life: bowling, co-ed softball, fishing, and golf. Jim also loved to dance.

Jim passed away on July 19, 2021, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 77 years, nine months and two days.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Eric Jacobsen; and two siblings, Mary Lou Froelich and Kenneth "Skeeter" McClain. He is survived by his wife, Donna McClain of Kimballton; children, Khristine (Barry) Jacobsen of Portsmouth, Mike (Debbie) McClain of Elk Horn, Aaron (Amy) McClain of Blair, Nebraska, and Sherri (Joel) Schlueter of Elk Horn; 18 grandchildren: Kali (Zac) Rabe, Megan (Zeke) Winans, Dilon McClain, Daron McClain, Devon McClain, Shelbie (Tad) Allen, Collin McClain, Michael Copic, Brady Schlueter, Emily (Jalen) Nelson, Hunter McClain, Dawson McClain, Brock Schlueter, Reid Schlueter, Claire Schlueter, Sawyer McClain, Sullivan McClain and Mia McClain; 4 great-grandchildren: Emmy, Addie, Nadia and Avery; two brothers: Gordon "John" (Cindi) McClain of Johnstown, Colorado and Jerry (Kristi) McClain of Exira; and many other relatives and friends.

The family will direct memorials.
