Hobbies/Interests: While he was growing up in Portsmouth IA, he loved to trap mink, although he mostly got muskrat. Loved sports, especially baseball and basketball and was scouted by a pro baseball scout to play in the St. Louis Cardinals minor league system but elected not to. For many years, he played town-team baseball and basketball, as well as bowling with his father on the Sullivan Elevator team. In later years he enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all their athletic and musical adventures.
