Employment: Farmer, raising chickens, sheep, hogs, cow-calf herds and dairy cows; he also worked at Farmland Foods for more than 27 years and owned his own trucking company. After he retired from farming, Bud purchased a bulldozer and did demolition of old buildings and barns. Additionally, he worked at Jim's Wholesale Meats during his retirement.

Hobbies/Interests: played baseball for the Earling town teams. He was well known as a pitcher and a hitter. was a great competitor his whole life. In the 1960's Bud appeared on two bowling shows broadcast out of Omaha. Strike it Lucky at the Rose Bowl and Bowling at Leisure at the Leisure Lanes. He bowled in many leagues and tournaments in his lifetime. He was on a bowling team that won the Knights of Columbus State tournament in the 60's. He earned many metals at the Senior Olympic in track events. He was also won Horseshoe trophies at the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa.
