Funeral services: Memorial Mass of the Resurrection: Thursday, March 4, 2021; Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard as well as the U. S. Air Force. Inurnment at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington, IA

Survived by: Son, Jeffrey A (spouse, Nancy) Jacobs of Sperry, IA; daughter, Sarah Jacobs of Colorado Springs, CO; 3 grandchildren; brother, Nicholas (spouse, Mary Helen) Jacobs of Saint Louis, MO; sister, Roseanne (spouse, Gary) Larsen of Harlan, IA; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Nicholas M. and Lucy (nee Muchalski) Jacobs; wife, Judy (deceased Oct. 3, 2018); son, Benjamin Jacobs; brothers, Raymond, Laverne, Charles, Kenneth, Gordon, and Victor; sisters, Evelyn, Bernice, Betty, Lorrane, and Darlene

Education: Participated in the ROTC Program at Iowa State University, Ames, IA, where he played football and track on scholarship; he received his bachelor’s degree in Geology there.

Religious affiliation: Member, Divine Mercy Parish and the Knights of Columbus

Military service: Career Air Force: was a Vietnam Veteran, receiving a Bronze Star with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Airmed Forces Reserve Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with three Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Gallantry Cross with device and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Marriage: Judy Kay Arledge; Aug. 27, 1960; Burlington, IA. They later divorced, but remarried on March 17, 1995.

Employment: Jim made the U. S. Air Force his career. Later, he also was employed by Lockheed Martin for 20 years.

Hobbies/Interests: Enjoyed fishing; hunting; golfing; traveling; reading; and was a great cook; he followed the stock market and was a member of the Bulls Stock Club
