Survived by: Husband of 68 years, Loyal Moore of Harlan, IA; children, Kristine (spouse, Paul) Larsen of Elk Horn, IA, Kevin (spouse, Kerry) Moore of Overland Park, KS, and David (spouse, Lynn) Moore of Rogers, AR; sister, Eileen Kittleson of St. Ansgar, IA; grandchildren, Heather, Aaron, Adam, Evan, Kyle, Bryan, Stephany, Kimberly, Kelly, Michelle, and Madison; 9 great-grandchildren and 4 more due to arrive in 2021; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Adolph Edwin and Marion Geanatte (nee Nelson) Jahr; brother, Almo Jahr

Education: Attended country school until grade 6, and graduated from high school in St. Ansgar, IA, with the Class of 1948. She attended the LaJames College of Hairstyling in Mason City, IA.

Religious affiliation: Active member, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harlan, IA, participating in the circles and teaching Sunday School

Marriage: Loyal Harold Moore; Oct. 18, 1952; Mona, IA

Employment: Marlys began her career at a beauty shop in Osage, IA; after a year, she opened her own shop, Marlys’ Beauty Salon, in St. Ansgar, which she later sold when she began her family. She and Loyal then built homes in Garner and Emmetsburg, IA, until they moved to Harlan, IA, in 1969. There, she enjoyed working at working at Morey’s Clothing.

Hobbies/Interests: Was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader; loved sewing, quilting, and knitting; with Loyal, they were avid golfers and enjoyed playing in Harlan and in Arizona, where they wintered after Loyal retired; loved to play bridge; was an outstanding cook and baker; mostly, she loved spending time with her family.
