Education: Attended country school until the 3rd grade when the family moved to Panama, IA, where she completed high school. Once she began working, she received her education at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll, IA, and Mercy Hospital in Council Bluff, IA. Later, she received her training at the Omaha Eye Institute so that she could assist with eye surgeries.
Religious affiliation: Active member, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Harlan, IA, and was a Eucharistic Minister and helped with preparing and serving funeral luncheons

Hobbies/Interests: An avid volunteer, she served on the Council at the Senior Center in Harlan, IA, faithfully taking blood pressures; was a member of the Elm Crest Nursing Home Auxiliary, and vice president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary; member, Myrtue Medical Center Auxiliary and also served on the Hospital Auxiliary Board; she worked at the Red Cross on blood drives for 35 years; she was a courier for the hospital laboratory, taking blood where needed; she enjoyed traveling, quilting, sewing, playing cards, crossword puzzles, visiting with family and friends
