Employment: Employed by the Iowa Department of Transportation beginning in the fall of 1989 as an equipment operator in Avoca, IA; he worked his way up to maintenance supervisor for the Atlantic and Adair Maintenance Garages in 2013. With the Iowa Dept. of Transportation, Shawn worked with FEMA during severe flooding in Iowa from May 2008-April 2009. For his dedicated service he was awarded the Civilian Award for Humanitarian Service from the Department of the Army in May 2009. That year, he started Havick Construction and remodeled 2 family homes and building his current home. In recent years, Shawn had begun working with his father, continuing the Rafter H Ranch Red Angus Cattle Business.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Masons in Parian Lodge No. 321; enjoyed the outdoors, camping, boating, and fishing during all seasons; loved attending his daughters’ school events and sporting activities
