Rush C. Benedict, a prominent Iowa republican of Shelby, died of typhoid fever. He served in the state legislature as chief clerk for ten years.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows his name as Charles Rush who was born in 1853 and is buried in Shelby Cemetery.
