After Lowell’s parents moved into Manning, the couple moved into the Schroeder homeplace on the highway. Three daughters were born to this union: Julie Lynette, Janet Leigh, and Jennifer Laine. Lowell worked at the pork plants in Harlan and Denison for 13 years and helped his father farm, eventually taking over the farm. Lowell and Betty farmed side-by-side and established LBJ’s Farms. They grew corn and beans and raised hogs-farrow to finish for 30 years. Lowell retired from farming in 2019.

Lowell was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, where he was baptized and confirmed. His passion was farming and taking pride in being a good steward of the land for future generations. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s activities. Lowell enjoyed taking Betty for a ride in his 1963 Chevy convertible as well as taking trips around the world with her.
