Survived by: Daughters, Linda (spouse, Dix) Scranton of Norfolk, NE, Merry Jo Stuhr of Gray, ME, and Nancy (spouse, Don) Foringer of Overland Park, KS; son, Richard (spouse, Kae) Stuhr of Shelby, IA; sisters, Dorothy Adkinson of Central City, NE, and Joann Hauptmann of Neligh, NE; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Eiler M. and Lillie C. (nee Strohbehn) Jacobsen; husband, Robert (deceased Aug. 10, 2015); brother, Donald Jacobsen

Education: Attended Country School #40 and graduated from Silver Creek (NE) High School in 1943; in 1945, she enrolled in the Cadet Nurse Program at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, NE. and graduated from the program in 1948.

Religious affiliation: Member, United Methodist Church, Shelby, IA; was active with the United Methodist Women (UMW)

Marriage: Robert (Bob) Emil Stuhr; June 5, 1949; Silver Creek, NE

Employment: Taught country school for 2 years before enrolling in the nursing program in Omaha, NE. in 1945. Upon her graduation from nursing school, she was employed as a registered nurse by the Visiting Nurse Association and continued in this position until her marriage. After her marriage, they moved to Shelby, IA. While her husband served in the Naval Reserves during the Korean Conflict, they lived in Tennessee and California, returning to the farm upon Bob’s discharge. Betty then served as the Shelby-Tennant school nurse for 23 years, and worked part-time at the Baptist Home in Harlan, Iowa, for 5 years.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Study Club; member, Friendly Neighbors group; enjoyed reading, bird watching, and gardening
