Employment: While their children were young, Joan worked in the schools they attended, and loved working in the cafeteria as a cook the most. With Donald serving in the U. S. Army, they moved 20 times, including while living in Europe for 3 years. Afterwards, she worked at Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE, as a medical transcriptionist until retiring in 1996 and moving with Donald to Shelby, IA.

Hobbies/Interests: knitting; crocheting; flower gardening; reading biographies; journaling; cooking; visiting state parks; taking walks; spending time with family
