Survived by: Daughter, Pam Marchant of Chester, ID; son, Jeff Nielsen of Harlan, IA; grandchildren, Darcy (spouse, Norene) Geary of Homedale, ID and Brandon (spouse, Leslie) Hildebrand of St Anthony, ID, Jason Nielsen and Jacob Nielsen of Irwin, IA; great-grandchildren, Tyler Eaves of Christianburg, VA, Joseph Walbridge, Cameron Geary, Gilbert Garza Jr., Sarina Garza, Tony Garza, Riley Hildebrand, Gracie Hildebrand, and Callie Hildebrand, all of Idaho; great-great-grandchildren, Gilbert Garza III and Leo Garza, also of Idaho; sisters, Margorie (spouse, Leroy) Poire of Jefferson City, MO, Dorene Miller of Tucson, AZ, Louise (spouse, Bill) Ahrenholtz of Defiance, IA and Maye Wiemers of Spencer, IA; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends

Education: Attended school in Bosworth, MO, until moving to Defiance, IA at age 11, where she attended school in Irwin, IA. She was active in school and participated in chorus, plays and sports, and with her playing forward, and twin sister Maye playing guard, they both lettered and made the all-star county basketball team for Shelby County in their senior year, graduating from Irwin with the Class of 1953.

Religious affiliation: Faithful member of Defiance (IA) United Methodist Church for more than 45 years, where she would often help with the lunches and special events, while also doing the bookkeeping and cleaning the church weekly.

Military service: n/a

Marriages: (1) Clinton Hulsebus; date and location not provided; they divorced a few years later. (2) Gunnar Nielsen, 1963; Minnesota; they later divorced, but remained friends until Gunnar’s passing.

Employment: After high school, she worked for Louis Christensen at his print shop in Harlan for a few years. After she and her second husband, Gunnar, moved to Defiance, IA, in 1973, she began cleaning houses.

Hobbies/Interests: Spending time with family, including annual family reunions and trips with her sisters.
