Employment: Following high school, Betty was employed at an attorney’s office. After her marriage, she became a farmer’s wife, helping with driving the tractor on the farm when needed and helping work in the field. They raised corn, beans, and hay. In addition they also had a Grade B dairy herd, feeder calves, sheep, rabbits, broilers, laying hens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea hens, and many, many pigs. In 1979, Betty started working as a cook for the Avoca Nursing Home until she retired in the mid 1990’s.
