Hermanette Ann Tank
November 30, 1931 - January 09, 2020Hermanette Ann, daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Blum) Schiltz, was born November 30,1931, in Panama, IA. At age 8, she moved with her family to Defiance and later to Manilla, Iowa where she graduated from Manilla High School. She attended nursing school at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs and after graduation worked at Mercy and then Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan in obstetrics.
On July 12, 1955, Hermie was united in marriage with Robert Dean Tank at Sacred Heart Church in Manilla. Four children were born to this union. They owned and farmed a 240-acre farm north of Manning and Hermie worked as a Registered Nurse until they retired and moved into town in 1994. Hermie then worked as an activity assistant at the Plaza for several years. Bob passed away in 2000 and Hermie lived on her own until becoming a resident of the Manning Plaza in 2009.
Hermie was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish where she taught CCD and was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Little Flower Study Club. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, sewing, dancing, planting flowers, and playing the piano and singing.
On Thursday, January 9, 2020, Hermie passed away at Accura Healthcare of Manning in Manning, Iowa. She was 88 years, 1 month and 10 days of age.
She was preceded in death her husband Robert Tank; siblings: Ann (Ray) Conway, Tony Schiltz, Joe (Irene) Schiltz, Carolyn (Gene) Denning, Theresa (Bob) Wilson, and Mary (Don) Poole; three brothers-in-law: Duane Schleisman, Clifford Tank and Gilbert Bourn; and a sister-in-law Marilyn Schiltz.
Hermie is survived by four children: Karen and her husband Dale (Ernie) Reinke, Robert Tank and his wife Sharon, Steven Tank and his wife Lisa, and Wanda and her husband Gary Reischl, all of Manning; 10 grandchildren: Adam (Allison) Reinke, Jace Reinke, Ty (Larry) Fitz, Mary Tank, Robert C. Tank, Noah Tank, Ericka (Chad) Muhlbauer, Jacob Tank, Lauren (Alan) Kerkhoff, Chris (Megan) Reischl, and Andrea Reischl; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother Mike Schiltz of Des Moines; a sister Lorina Schleisman of Omaha; three sisters-in-law: Helena Tank of Carroll; Norma Bourn of Woodland, California; and Bonita Schiltz of Earling; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
