Military service: Drafted into the U. S. Army in October 1950, earning several medals including Korean Service Medals with Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal - Japan Combat, Occupational Medal, and an Infantry Badge with one Overseas Bar. He was honorably discharged in October 1952.
