Survived by: Wife of 58 years, Mary Elizabeth Nichols of Elk Horn, IA; children, Linda (spouse, Robert) Holst of Omaha, NE, Lisa Nichols of Jacksonville, FL, and Mike Nichols (spouse, Anita) of Harlan, IA; daughter-in-law, Toni Nichols of Elkhorn, NE; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Norton of Prescott Valley, AZ; brothers, Neil Nichols (spouse, Norma) of Maroa, IL and Lyle Nichols (spouse, Jan) of Quincy, IL; other family members and friends

Education: Attended school in Boxholm, IA where he graduated from Boxholm High School, Class of1957; he went on to attend Southwestern Community College in Creston, IA.

Religious affiliation: Active member in the Congregational United Church of Christ, Harlan, IA and served on their board.

Military service: Honorably served in the U. S. Navy

Marriage: Mary Elizabeth Chapman; May 7, 1961; location not provided

Employment: After his marriage, he was employed as a butcher in Cherokee, IA; the family then moved to Des Moines, where Stan sold insurance through IDS. After the family again relocated, this time to Harlan, IA, in 1977, Stan worked for Boar Power and then for Moorman Seeds. He stayed in agriculture sales and sold farm implement equipment for Westendorf Manufacturing of Onawa, IA.

Hobbies/Interests: Community theater productions; very active in the Masonic Lodge and Shriner's and was a member for over 50 years; was a huge fan of tractor pulls and stock car racing.
