Education: Attended St. Boniface School, Westphalia, IA, and graduated with the Class of 1953; he then attended barber college in Des Moines, IA

Military service: Enlisted in the U. S. Army, serving from Jan. 1955 until being honorably discharged in Jan. 1958. During his military career, he served in Germany and was awarded a sharpshooter medal.
Marriage: Mary Heller; June 30, 1958; St. Peter Catholic Church, Defiance, Shelby County, IA
Employment: Employed as a barber for 30 years, working in different locations and for Bilsten’s in Denison, IA. In addition, he worked as a card dealer on a river boat for 7 years.
Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed playing cards; going for drives in the local area; watching sports on television, especially the New York Yankees and the Iowa Hawkeyes; fishing; bowling; attending family reunions in Minnesota; watching and attending his children’s sporting events
