Military service: Drafted, U. S. Army, Feb. 1969 – Jan. 1971; was stationed in Germany

Marriage: Patricia Susan James; Dec. 1, 1973; St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Portsmouth, IA

Employment: After his military discharge, Pete began farming grain, cattle and hogs. He retired in 2018.

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed the livestock shows at the Shelby County and Iowa State Fairs; loved helping children and others show livestock while he served as a 4-H leader; coached baseball when his children were young, and continued to coach and umpire games when needed; enjoyed gardening and canning the fresh produce; enjoyed wine making; always looked forward to Stein family gatherings, particularly the annual Stein family bowling tournament and hosting the Iowa/Nebraska football games.
