Survived by: Wife of 62 years, Patricia (nee Wiley) Steenhusen of Irwin, IA; daughter, Shelli (spouse, Shawn) Sprague of Windsor Heights, IA; son, Scott Steenhusen of Wichita, KS; granddaughter, Heather Thompson of Altoona, IA; grandson, Chase Sprague of Windsor Heights, IA; great-grandchildren, Ashlynd Thompson, Dakota Thompson and Payton Huss; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Steenhusen of Irwin, IA and Marilyn Joul of Oxford, MI; brother-in-law, Jim Petersen of Heron Lake, MN; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends

Education: Graduated from Irwin (IA) High School, Class of 1951; he then attended Commercial Extension in Omaha, NE, earning the level of Junior Accountant

Religious affiliation: Baptized and a member of the Irwin (IA) Church of Christ; member of the church’s “Mens’ Quartet.” George was active in his church serving in several capacities, including the roles of Treasurer for more than 45 years, and as an Elder

Military service: Drafted into the U. S. Army, serving his country from 1955 to 1957

Marriage: Patricia (Pat) Wiley; June 23, 1957; location not provided

Employment: After completing school, he returned to Irwin to work with his father, John H. and brother, John Lewis, at Steenhusen John Deere Implement. Following his time in the military, he returned to Irwin to work at the family business. He then spent 27 years working for Jacobs Corporation, Harlan, IA, while also farming on the family farm for 10 years.

Hobbies/Interests: musically gifted, playing the piano and in men’s quartets; genealogy; family reunions;
