Military service: After high school, he served his country in the U. S. Army National Guard
Marriage: Carmen Ann Heese; Aug. 4, 1984; St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Earling, IA
Employment: After his marriage, Gary started Gary’s Diesel Repair Shop. Over the years, he also worked for Western Engineering in Harlan and One Ton Welding in Panama; Farm and Fun then became the new location of Gary’s Diesel. His love of grilling and smoking meats turned from a hobby to a business, and Gary joined his long-time friend, Dick Keane, in starting up Lil’ Angels BBQ.
Hobbies/Interests: Member of more than 35 years of Westphalia Volunteer Fire Department; enjoyed fishing, camping, watching NASCAR, going to races and, mostly, spoiling his grandchildren
