Education: Attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Earling, IA and graduated with the Class of 1937. In 1937, she attended Normal Training School in Denison, IA and received her elementary teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools around Shelby County for 5 years before her marriage.
Religious affiliation: Baptized, received her First Holy Communion, and was confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling, IA; after her marriage, she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panama, IA and served on the Altar Society. In 1982, they moved to Harlan, IA, and she became a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church there.
