Spencer Ray Freese, son of Krista (Freese) and Nathan Barry was born September 23, 2000 at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, IA. He grew up in Manilla, IA. Spencer attended elementary and middle school at IKM-Manning, before attending most of his high school years at Harlan Community High School. Spencer was on track to graduate from Iowa Virtual Academy in May of this year and was excited to start college in the fall where he planned to pursue a career in computer science.

As a little boy, Spencer loved dinosaurs and watched dinosaur movies on the Discovery Channel. The family has fond memories of him requesting to watch a “Rawr Mojie” (dinosaur movie in toddler talk.) Spencer could win at “The Rug Rats” game on the Nintendo when he was 3 years old. His interest in all things tech continued to grow. When he was 11 years old, Spencer started researching on the internet and learned computer programming. He had natural athletic ability, but seemed happiest in front of his computer. Spencer loved Christmas and the traditions that came with it. He had a knack for always picking out the perfect gift for everyone, and it was always his job to hand out the presents. As a teenager, Spencer developed a love of weight-lifting and attended various gyms in the area daily. Spencer loved his little brothers, animals, driving around for hours in his car, chocolate chip cookies, and eating at Hu Hot.

On Wednesday, February 6, 2019, Spencer passed away suddenly and unexpectantly at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, IA at the age of 18 years and 5 months.

Spencer is survived by his parents Krista and Nathan Barry; three brothers: Kaiden, Treyton, and Tristan Barry; grandparents Lenny and Sue Freese & Mike and Georgetta Barry, all of Manilla; his great-grandmothers Shirley Freese of Manilla and Mary Daniel of Lincoln, NE; father Clint Woebke of Irwin; aunts and uncles: Jenifer Rugaard and special friend Curtis Rykhus of Audubon, IA; Henry and Shauna Thompson of Manilla; Shad and Diane Barry of Nemaha; Tyler and Jade Barry of Sioux City; Jordan and Katie Weihe of Chancellor, SD; special cousin Clayton Rugaard of Audubon; special friend Jewel Nordby of Harlan; and two remarkable friends, William Andrade of Manilla, and Dylan Spies of Manning; Many other cousins, relatives and friends.
