Employment: After graduating from high school, Bud helped his parents with the farm and dairy operation. After his parents retired, Bud was employed to build bridges on the Rock Island Railroad in the Hancock and Minden (IA) areas. After his marriage, Bud drove a cream truck and also did carpentry work. Early in 1956 they started farming on the Chris Miller farm south of Avoca. Bud did carpentry work during the day and farmed on evenings and weekends; they raised corn, beans and hay, and also had a Grade B dairy herd, feeder calves, sheep, rabbits, broilers, laying hens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea hens and pigs. In 1984, they retired and moved to town. After he retired, Bud worked as a custodian for the Edgington Memorial Park.

Hobbies/Interests: gardening; fishing; going on extended bus tours
