After moving to Harlan, IA, he worked at Hy-Vee Grocery Store as both Manager and Deli Manager. Ron later went on to be the warehouse manager at Variety Distributors, until his retirement in 2007.

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed wood working, hunting, and golf; he shared his hobbies with his daughters, fishing, hunting, and building whatever piece of furniture they planned.
