Funeral services: Friday, May 25, 2018; First Baptist Church, Le Mars, IA; burial was in the Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars, with military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post #241 of Le Mars.

Survived by: Son, Shawn (spouse, Becky) Olson of Le Mars and their sons, Bryce and Brett; brothers, Dean (spouse, Joyce) Olson of Minden, IA and Dave Olson of Lake Parks, IA; sisters, Cherrie Wiese of Topeka, KS, and Wanda (spouse, Ron) Sabby of Wallingford, IA; in-laws, Sue Olson of Des Moines, IA, Connie (spouse, Larry) McDermott of Harlan, IA and Luann (spouse, Jon) Hansen of Harlan, IA; nieces; nephews; other family and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Bertram and Thelma (nee Monson) Olson; wife, Sally (deceased on July 15, 2004); siblings, Stephen Olson, Duane Olson, Clyde Olson, and Helen (and spouse, Tom) Merritt

Education: attended school in Irwin, IA graduating from Irwin High School; he then attended college in Maryville, MO for 2 years

Religious affiliation: longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Le Mars, IA, where he sang in the church choir and served on the trustee board and the building committee for the church

Military service: U. S. Army National Guard and was stationed at Fort Carson, CO. He was honorably discharged.

Marriage: Sally Wiuff; April 24, 1968; Maryville, MO

Employment: Following college, he went to work for Harlan Builders, Harlan, IA, and worked there until his retirement

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Wasmer American Legion Post 241; hunting; fishing; traveling with Sally across the county to different conventions and seminars for his job
