Employment: After his marriage, Calvin was employed by Weddum’s Hatchery in Elk Horn, IA and at Culligan Soft Water in Atlantic, IA. He joined the military, after which he farmed south of Elk Horn, IA. He then became a very successful salesman for Walnut Grove Feed in Treynor, IA for 25 years. He and Phyllis began Four Corners Travel in Treynor and he was also an activity bus driver for the Treynor and Elk Horn (IA) Community Schools.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Treynor American Legion Post 725; member, Elk Horn American Legion Post 322 for 61 years; received the Treynor 4-H backer of the year in Pottawattamie County and the 4-H Family of the Year Award; served on the Salem Lutheran Home Board and on the Danish Windmill Board while living in Elk Horn, IA; when on travel bus trips with their Four Corners Travel Agency, he enjoyed singing, playing games, telling jokes, and playing cards, and would always end the trips by leading the singing of “God Bless America.” He enjoyed singing with the grandkids and great-grandkids, and loved the singing at worship time and anytime in the halls at Salem Lutheran Home.
