Education: Attended country schools, graduating from 8th grade in 1942. She then attended Treynor High School for 1 year and then transferred to Abraham Lincoln in Council Bluffs, IA and graduated from there in 1946 at 16 years of age.

Religious affiliation: Baptized in the St. John Evangelical Church in Council Bluffs, IA. She was confirmed in the Treynor Zion Congregational Church.

Employment: After her high school graduation, she stayed home to help her dad farm in place of her brother who was in the service. After she was married, she helped her husband farm, had large gardens and raised chickens. In 1981, she went to work at CDS in Harlan, IA; she retired from there in 1991.
