Military service: Enlisted in the U. S. Army in May 1953, during the Korean War, serving his country honorably until April 1955. He earned a National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and Good Conduct Medal.

Employment: Eugene had a dairy farm on the family farm and worked as a hired hand to several neighbors. He also worked with a bridge crew, CDS Global, and Ohlinger Lawn Care; he retired in 1997
