Education: graduated from Scranton (IA) High School, Class of 1960; Larry then received his degree from Northwest Missouri State, majoring in music but Larry always kept his passion for coaching sports close to his heart

Religious affiliation: baptized and confirmed at the Methodist church in Scranton, IA; longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Harlan, IA, where he volunteered many hours; this earned him the United Methodist Youth Group Citizen of the Year award.

Marriage: Patricia Willison; June 12, 1965; Scranton Methodist Church, Scranton, IA

Employment: After their marriage, he and Patricia moved to Harlan, IA where Larry worked for a short time at a sign painting business. He then became a salesman for OshKosh B’gosh and Key Industries, Inc. Following that, he took over Harlan Clothing Store from 1988-2012. Additionally, Larry was the KNOD sports announcer for 13 years.

Hobbies/Interests: Larry was very involved in the Harlan Community School system: he was one of the founders of the Booster Club and was the official scorekeeper for the boys and girls teams at Harlan Community High School. Larry was a longtime Harlan Chamber of Commerce member, was a Mason for many years, and was a board member for Myrtue Hospital. He also spent many, many hours coaching at the baseball field. Larry was a devoted Harlan Cyclone Fan, and a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan. He also enjoyed time spent fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Mostly, Larry loved time spent with family and his grandchildren.
