Employment: was an automotive mechanic at Harlan (IA) Auto Mart for 18 years; then worked 8 years as a welder in Council Bluffs, IA; at his last job, he worked on the production floor of the Shelby County (IA) Cookers bacon plant. Because of a disability, he retired in 2012.

Hobbies/Interests: When he was younger, he enjoyed bowling and playing softball; later, he took up golf. Liked to mow lawns and raise tomatoes. Enjoyed time spent visiting with friends and family; recently, he happily became a full-time babysitter for his young granddaughter.
