Religious affiliation: Lifelong member of the Jefferson Center Church (Jefferson, IA), where she played the piano and organ. Later on, she was also a member of the Stuart-Mt. Vernon (IA) United Methodist Church

Marriage: Clarence E. (“Kay”) Smith; June 6, 1945; at her parent’s home (Menlo, IA)
Employment: After completing her education, she worked at Allied Mutual Insurance Company until 1946. Once her children were in school, she worked at several positions in Adair and Polk Counties over the years: the USDA in Greenfield, IA, the Dexter (IA) Free Clinic, Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA and First State Bank in Stuart, IA, until she retired in 1996. She and Kay both worked in retirement at the Stuart & Perry sale barns.
Hobbies/Interests: Active member of the Menlo Legion Auxiliary, Glover-Butler Post, Unit 511; she enjoyed card clubs and camping at the State Fair and with the grandchildren; baking; cooking
