Military service: U. S. Army, Aug. 15, 1965 – Jan. 9, 1966; served stateside during the Vietnam War as a medic with Company B, 3rd BN, USA Medic 4th. Honorably discharged.

Marriage: Connie Lee Hagood; Feb. 9, 1968; Queen of Apostles Parish, Council Bluffs, IA

Employment: Pharmacist; he owned Lehan Pharmacy in Minden, IA for 40 years before selling the pharmacy and retiring in 2008. Member of the Board of Directors for the Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Neola, IA; member of the Board of Directors for the Iowa West Foundation

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed collecting guns, coins, and postage stamps; reading westerns; watching auto racing; walking county roads
