Religious affiliation: baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Parkston, SD, where he remained a member until 2007 when he became a member at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan, IA.

Employment: Was an implement dealer at his father’s business, Ritter Implement Inc. in Parkston, SD; he eventually took over the business and expanded it into the partnership known as Ritter-Walz Implement. Later in his career, he sold shop supplies farm-to-farm.

Hobbies/Interests: While in Parkston, SD, Gordon was active in the community: he was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus, an active member of the JayCees, and held a seat on the City Council for 3 years. Enjoyed jazz music; tinkering with engines in cars, motorcycles and boats.
