Lester Lynn, son of Lester Lawrence and Daisy (Smith) Dent, was born March 6, 1925, at home near Redline in Shelby County, Iowa. He graduated from Irwin High School. After graduation, Lynn farmed with his family.

Lynn was united in marriage with Caroline M. Reuwsaat on August 1, 1948, in Denison. Four children were born to this union. He farmed starting in 1946 and also ran a custom round baling operation for 25 years. When Lynn retired from farming in 1988, they moved to the Fiscus area.

In his spare time, Lynn enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as doing most of his own machinery maintenance. He and Caroline both enjoyed family trips with the kids. Lynn was always interested in implementing conservation practices on the farm.

When Lynn’s health began to fail, he moved to the Manilla Manor nursing home in February of this year. He died there on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 17 days.

Besides his parents, Lynn is preceded in death by sister Inona Axland and Shirley Dent in childhood.

Lynn is survived by his wife of almost 69 years Caroline Dent of Irwin; four children: Cathy Dent of Knoxville; Susan (Eugene) Mahnke of Manning; Betty Dent (Doug Schmid) of Omaha, NE; and Charles Dent (Rosa) of Fiscus; four granddaughters: Robin (Mike) Heaton; LeeAnn (Ronald) Christensen; Sarah Dent; Michele Dent; four great-grandchildren: Tyler Heaton, Shelby Heaton, Zoey Heaton and Eric Christensen; brother Ralph (Delores) Dent of Audubon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
