Military service: enlisted in the U. S. Army in Aug. 1954; served as a Clerk Typist and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX; honorably discharged Aug. 1956.

Marriage: Verna Jackson; Dec. 20, 1956; Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Lake City, IA

Employment: Out of high school, he helped on the family farm. After his military service, he returned to Iowa and was employed by the Grinnell Telephone Company in Rockwell City, IA until the following year. He then began working as a lineman for Iowa Public Service and, during his career there, was transferred to Humboldt, IA, Audubon, IA, and finally Elk Horn, IA until he retired in 1998.

Hobbies/Interests: wood working; spending time at their lake home in Lake View, IA; boating, playing golf and cards. Was a member of American Legion Post #332, Elk Horn, IA, member of the Better Elk Horn Club and was one of the last original members of the Danish Windmill Board; was involved in many community activities.
