Education: attended grade school and graduated from high school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Earling, IA, Class of 1946

Religious affiliation: baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Earling, IA; he remained a life-long member.

Military service: enlisted in U. S. Army in July 1951, and was honorably discharged in March 1953. While serving his country during the Korean War, Mac was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Campaign Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.

Marriage: Margaret “Peg” Kramer; June 5, 1956; St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Earling, IA

Employment: After his high school graduation, Mac helped his father on the family farm before his enlistment. After his discharge and marriage, he worked for several employers over the years, including farming, working at Purina Feeds, at the service station in Earling, IA, for Red Giant Oil Company and as a long-time Knights of Columbus Insurance agent. In his later years, he worked for CDS Global, Harlan, IA.

Hobbies/Interests: actively involved member in Knights of Columbus Earling (IA) Council No. 1741; he was a proud member of the 4th Degree and served in several positions, as well as the Luke E. Hart Chalice Club; was a long time member of the Earling American Legion Post No. 615; enjoyed playing cards, going to the casinos and eating out.
