Military service: enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corp where he served his country for 2 years before being honorably discharged; after he was married, he reenlisted into the Army Air Force Reserves where he served another 2 years; most of his time spent at Offutt Air Base in Bellevue, NE.

Employment: farmer before and after his military service; he then spent the remainder of his life operating heavy machinery for various road construction companies throughout the Midwest
