Employment: During and after high school, she worked on Dwyer’s ranch and at Parr’s café in Elgin, IA. She then moved to Chicago, IL, to help her sister, Philomenia, when she had children. She lived there for 5 years and then moved to Defiance, IA with her sister, Phil and her husband, Al Wilwerding, to help run the Corner Inn Café. After her marriage and while raising her children, she baked and decorated cakes for a living. After Joe’s death in 1972, she had a successful wedding cake business until she retired in 2010.

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed baseball, crocheting, puzzles and playing cards
