Education: attended York Center Country School through Grade 8 and the graduated from Minden (IA) High School with the Class of 1945. She continued her education at Commercial Extension in Omaha, NE, and graduated from there in 1947.

Religious affiliation: was confirmed at and a member of the Minden (IA) Congregational Church and later joined the Shelby (IA) Methodist Church in 1965.

Marriage: Lester William Ploen; Feb. 17, 1951; St. John’s United Church of Christ, Council Bluffs, IA

Employment: After completing her education, she worked for 5 years at Pottawattamie Mutual Insurance Company, Council Bluffs, IA. After her marriage, she was a farmer’s wife, raising her family and helping her husband on the farm.

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed being a farm wife and she was known for her pie-baking skills. She was a caring friend and acknowledged events and meaningful dates to family and friends, frequently sending cards and letters.
