Employment: worked as a hired farmhand before serving in the military. After returning, he farmed with his father near Westphalia, IA, and also worked for FMCTC (Farmers Mutual Co-Op Phone Co) in Harlan, IA. He was next employed for 18 years as a janitor for the Harlan (IA) Community Schools, after which he worked at Wilson Seed in Harlan, IA. He also ran his own tool sharpening business, “Cleo’s Sharpen-All.”

Hobbies/Interests: Cleo raised and trained horses; enjoyed going to coffee and going fishing; was also a member of the Helmer-Reyelt American Legion Post #150 in Harlan, IA
